England and Scotland, May 2005 : Day 5
< Previous Day | Index | Next Day >

Day 5, Monday: Another light day of wandering around town. Climbed up to Battery Rock, long ago the location a gun battery; this is accessed via a trail behind the old school house a couple of doors down from Crianlarich. The old school house was used for recording part of Some Cities by The Doves, (released Feb 21, 2005) - a pretty major event for this small village. There has been talk of turning the building into a recording studio, and also for turning it into more housing. Whatever happens, I hope public access to Battery Point is preserved - it's a short, easy climb with a nice view. And I have fond memories of it from my childhood.

As is not uncommon, a few R.A.F. jets flew over - they come down the length of Loch Ness and then pass over Fort Augustus and continue down towards Fort William. I didn't manage to get any good photos of the jets, but I at least documented the event. :-)

I also passed by Kilchuimen Academy, which is where my brothers and I went to school when we lived here.
